Katy was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, and moved to Wilmington in 2016. While she loved the charm of her hometown and the easy access to Washington, D.C., she grew up vacationing in Coastal Carolina and always dreamed of living at the beach. The story of how she ended up here — and with Lanier Property Group — is filled with impactful experiences.
Katy graduated from the University of Virginia with a double major in psychology and sociology, with the intention of starting a career in social work. Instead, she ended up working in the buying offices of a department store chain and realized she was better suited for a business career. After receiving her Master’s in business administration from the Darden School of Business, Katy gained valuable experience working in brand management and marketing in both D.C. and New York.
It wasn’t until her first experience buying a home that Katy realized how complex the process could be, and the importance of having someone with experience and compassion by your side. She obtained her real estate license in 2005 and quickly fell in love with guiding her clients through homebuying and selling. This role was the perfect mix of working with people while using her marketing and business skills. Still, Katy ended up returning to the corporate world, spending 10 years managing executive education programs and networking events for health care and technology companies.
Now she’s excited to return to her true passion: real estate. Her prior real estate experience, combined with her business background and love of working with people, makes Katy a well-rounded asset to the Lanier Property Group team. She is thrilled to join LPG and Intracoastal Realty to relaunch her real estate career in this beautiful town. Indeed, after all of her professional endeavors, Katy knows she ended up right where she belongs.
Outside of real estate, Katy stays busy volunteering for her children’s school and fostering kittens for a local rescue. She also spends her time enthusiastically cheering on her kids (Anika, Emmy, and Will) and even her husband (Greg) at various sporting events around Wilmington. If Katy ever gets a moment of true downtime, you’ll find her curled up with a good book — preferably poolside or in the sand!
